History of GCNA

The Grenada Cooperative Nutmeg Association (GCNA) was founded in 1947 by farmers to develop the industry and Market the products. This 75-year-old farmers’ cooperative is a global brand and has an active membership of approximately 3,500 farmers, its main products are Nutmeg and Mace and Nutmeg Value Added products made from every part of the raw material. GCNA employs over 138 persons. 85% of Grenada’s bulk nutmegs and mace are exported to Europe, Asia, Canada and South America, India, Argentina and the Caribbean. Today the Association accounts for over 50% of the total Agricultural exports of Grenada. There are three processing stations where nutmeg is removed from the shell and graded into different sizes for shipment worldwide.
